Description
Extant CNVD (PVS-24)
The Extant CNVD (PVS-24) is a clip-on night vision device that attaches in front of a magnified day scope. This gives the shooter the ability to use their day scope at night. The Extant CNVD attaches to a standard 1913 picatinny rail directly in front of the shooters day scope without having to move the day scope and re-zero the optic. This lets the shooter use the same rifle in both daylight and night time conditions. By mounting the unit in front of the day scope, the shooter avoids changing optics and re-zeroing rifles to gain night vision capability. This is a huge advantage to using a clip-on solution versus a dedicated night vision scope. The Extant CNVD can also be mounted in front of a spotting scope. When used with a spotting scope the user has a night time reconnaissance and spotting solution.
The Extant CNVD is designed as a short to middle range solution optimized for 2X – 6X. This allows shooters to easily make consistent target identification out to 500 yds plus with ease. The CNVD can be used on higher magnification, however, the shooter will start to see a decrease in resolution and performance. For higher magnification needs the Extant CNVD-LR is a better solution.
The housing is constructed with aerospace grade aluminum and high impact polymer which is powered by a single CR123 or a AA battery (with the provided battery cap adapter). The CNVD is designed to withstand recoil up to 7.62 NATO.
The Extant CNVD (PVS-24) has very intuitive controls which allows the shooter to operate the device with ease based on feel alone. The unit has a rear facing power knob that doubles as a gain control knob. This allows the shooter to turn the unit on while laying or standing behind the gun without breaking a natural purchase of the weapon system. The power knob has a detent preventing accidental activation and gives the shooter positive feedback when the unit is turned off. The CNVD has a focus lever on the top of the unit which is very intuitive and easy to use while the shooter is behind the scope and looking down range. The focus lever is much more accessible, ergonomic, and intuitive than other clip-on devices. Overall, the Extant CNVD is a very intuitive device and can be operated with very little movement by the shooter.
Image Intensifier Tube
The Extant CNVD (PVS-24) uses a L3Harris unfilmed 2376 minimum FOM white phosphor image intensifier tube. This is L3’s premier white phosphor image intensifier and offers incredible clarity, system resolution, and light transmission. When using clip-on night vision the shooter is looking through multiple layers of glass and an image intensifier tube, all under magnification. Due to these factors a higher performing image intensifier tube will pay dividends for performance of the system and magnification capabilities. The L3Harris 2376 minimum FOM white phosphor image intensifier tube accomplishes these needs with unmatched performance.
